Mandaue City asks for donations to fire victims in Tipolo

The Mandaue City government is calling on the public for donations to the hundreds of families affected by the fire that hit early this morning in Barangay Tipolo.

On their Mandaue City Public Information Office (PIO) page, they announced that there were 500 families that lost their homes and personal belongings to the fire.

Their City Social Welfare Services (CSWS) Office and their Information Desk at the city hall will be the drop off areas for the donations.

Acting Mandaue City Mayor Carlo Pontico Fortuna has asked the Sangguniang Panglungsod to hold a special session in order to declare a state of calamity in the city so they can utilize the calamity funds.

“Given the magnitude of this calamity, the victims will need the support of the public for whatever assistance that can be extended to them,” Fortuna said in his message posted on the PIO page.

Hot meals were provided to the fire victims through the Mandaue City’s Mobile Kitchen while the CSWS is also registering the names of those who were affected.

The dawn fire that was raised to Task Force Bravo affected the compounds of Basubas, Espina, and Maharlika.
